Eggers — an ode to markdown

Eggers is a dead simple markdown generator. Type stuff on the left side, watch it render into HTML on the right side. That's it.

Except...

That one time you refreshed. You didn't mean to, it kinda just happened. Of course, had to happen after 10 minutes of mind dumping into the page.

Not to worry, old friend. We've all been there. Eggers saves your work into localstorage! Refresh till your fingers go sore -- your content will persist! (Don't close your browser though, that actually will clear the content...).

Why Eggers?

I use Eggers to create class content. Eggers is themed to be easy to read from a classroom seat and has support for javascript/css/html/bash syntax highlighting.

Typically, I use a static site generator, but when writing lots and lots of content, it becomes onerous to add data, save, tab over to browser to preview and then tab back. With Eggers, all I have to do is...type.

When I am ready to publish, I simply copy my markdown over to my static site generator file, generate it once, and deploy.
